The DialyGuard line of dialysate meters utilize syringes to perform quick and accurate meter readings and there are a couple of tips that we have complied that may be helpful in getting the most out of your pHoenix, HYDRA or NEO-STAT meter:
- Don’t pull the syringe back past the 10 ml line. The meter was designed to get the proper readings without needing to pull the syringe any further and doing so can cause unintended leaking.
- Do not over-tighten the syringe. If the syringe fitting is over-tightened, the top section is being pulled so that the feature on the syringe tip used to retain the rotating fitting is now stretching the rotating tip outwards. Eventually the rotating tip will break.
- Exercise new syringes prior to installation. While in storage, the stoppers can tend to stiffen which can cause initial leakage if not exercised prior to initial use. Simply work the plunger back and forth 5 times or so prior to installation.
