If you, a family member or friend are new to Dialysis, omega-3 fatty acids like those in fish oil may help protect against sudden cardiac arrest. Amidst all the hustle and bustle of the Holiday, it is easy to forget something so small, but remembering this one simple step can help keep you healthy.
- Cut Back on Salt, Protein and Water
Consuming too much salt, protein or water at any time can plug up your body’s filtration system. To keep it running at a healthy pace, remember to pass on the salt for your Holiday meal and pay close attention to portions of proteins or other salty foods. Watch your water intake as well to make sure you are getting enough, but not too much.
Maintaining a regular amount of exercise helps regulate blood pressure and heart rates. Especially over the Holiday, it can be difficult to find time to fit in exercise, but taking the time before or after you are with family and friends will help keep your body healthy.
